211 Day will be here soon!
211 Day, celebrated on February 11th, is approaching fast! If you work at a 211 center, are you doing anything to celebrate? Do you use this day to spread awareness of 211? If you have plans, we’d love to hear about it, or even better send us some photos, too. We can share your photos and a brief recap of your event on social media and on our blog. If you’d like to share those, send an email to
Back when I was working at a 211 center we partnered with our local United Way on 211 day to spread awareness and tell our community about 211 in new and fun ways. With the help of some supportive local businesses, we braved the cold and set up a booth downtown to serve hot chocolate to passersby while also handing out magnets, pamphlets, and other 211 materials. (Side note: if you do something like this, make sure you get all the proper permits like we did!)
We even made a costume for my dog so she could be our 211 mascot! This was a great ice breaker and prompted a lot of folks to come up and ask us who we were. It made us approachable and generated curiosity.
Whether you are a blended center answering both crisis and 211 calls, a standalone 211 call center, or perhaps integrated with a local United Way office, your communities have come to rely on you to provide answers and connect them with services they need. They are so fortunate to have your breadth of knowledge just a phone call away!
