Find help for clients outside your service area

Often times you may need to seek help for a client from a service provider outside of your coverage area…they could be using a Voice-Over-IP phone (like Skype or Vonage) or have a national calling plan that allows them to call over great distances for little or no cost. Or perhaps they are calling on behalf of a friend or relative that lives elsewhere. Maybe your agency participates in a national network (like the US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) or regional collaborative. Regardless of the reason, you’d like to be in a position to provide help. Currently your workers may reach for a printed reference, a phone book, or even launch Google and start searching on their own. But we propose they should have access to better maintained, more professional resources. How iCarol can help Fortunately we have a growing number of ways to help our clients in these scenarios: Forge a partnership with other help lines so that you can share each others’ referral databases inside your own iCarol systems. That way, your workers can browse and search for a referral from your partners’ systems without ever leaving your own iCarol system. Access resources on the public websites of other iCarol-using agencies. So even if you can’t forge such a partnership mentioned above, many of our clients do publish their live referral databases to their public websites using an optional upgrade from iCarol. Your workers can simply browse and search from there. Enable the free database of 2-1-1 providers, available to any iCarol client. It is continuously maintained and provides the local phone numbers into all of the information & referral providers hosting 2-1-1 service across the US.
