The iCarol Team’s Holiday Playlist
Nothing gets us into the holiday spirit like some good tunes. We thought it’d be fun to share some of the iCarol team’s favorite songs of the season. Enjoy!
Neil likes “Baby It’s Cold Outside” by Dean Martin
Jackie is an Elvis fan and so she prefers none other than Elvis’s “Blue Christmas.”
Donna’s favorite holiday music is the Nutcracker Suite. Donna says, “It’s a fun story with beautiful music by Tchaikovsky.” And who knew we had a star of the stage in our midst? Donna adds, “I fondly remember one year when I played Clara in a Chicago area production.”
Shelley’s favorite is “Christmas in the Stars” from the Star Wars Christmas Album. She says, “The year we got this our CD player (yep, that long ago) was stuck on playing this CD over and over, and this song stood out. At first it was annoying, but then the robot chirping sounds kind of grew on me. My three kids loved dancing to it, so if I ever hear it again, I’m sure it’ll bring back great memories.”
Margitta and Britt share a favorite, “Leise rieselt der Schnee.” Britt says it gets her into a relaxed and spiritual Christmas mood, while Margitta recalls it as a favorite childhood memory, a song about the anticipation of the Christmas celebration.
Britt’s other favorite is “Schneeflöckchen Weißröckchen”
Another favorite from Margitta is “Good King Wensceslas” a song about a king who cared enough that he and his page delivered wood to a poor person in his kingdom on a cold winter’s night.
Carmen loves the Boney M Christmas album because it holds great childhood memories.
And for pure silliness that pokes fun at Canadians, Carmen also enjoys Bob and Doug McKenzie’s “12 Days of Christmas.”
Dana’s all time favorite Christmas song is “I Believe in Father Christmas” by Greg Lake (of Emerson, Lake, & Palmer) because she loves classic rock from the 60′s and 70′s and enjoys the message and introspection of this song.
The Muppets were a huge part of Dana’s childhood, so she also enjoys their version of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” featuring John Denver.
Alex’s favorite is “Christmas in America” by Melissa Etheridge because it’s a “very passionate and touching Christmas song by an outstanding singer and songwriter.”
We hope you’ve had a great holiday season thus far and have spent some of it listening to your favorite music. It’s incredible how much our favorite songs really get us in the spirit of the season!
